Wiki Module Topic and Module Objectives Wiki Module Topic: Building Online Communities in Cyberspace
Module 1 is devoted to examining the characteristics of online learning communities and the characteristics that must be present in order to insure positive learning experiences for all students. This unit will explore critical components, strategies, and challenges that online instructors and facilitators address when designing online learning experiences. The unit is divided into two parts. Part one will examine the learning community in cyberspace. Part two will provide students with skills and knowledge regarding how to build an electronic learning community.
Module Objectives: As a result of competing this module, students will be able to:
Identify and discuss the unique differences between the online and onsite classroom.
Examine characteristics of online learners and apply this information in designing a meaningful learning task.
Define onsite and online learning communities.
Discuss the characteristics and components of electronic learning (e-Learning).
Examine steps and techniques for converting onsite learning to the online environment.
Identify strategies for managing online learning.
